Consultations about ‘traffic light’ coalition: there are still hurdles

(GermanPolicy.com) – The SPD, the Greens, and the FDP want to present a document on the possible uptake of coalition negotiations by Friday, FDP Secretary-General Wissing announced. According to SPD Secretary-General Klingbeil, all topics have been discussed by the three parties. However, there are still hurdles. According to press reports, conflicts with regard to taxes, debt, and the financing of measures in view of climate protection still persist.

The Parliamentary Managing Director of the FDP, Buschmann, was optimistic but emphasized: “The red lines of the FDP are known: no tax increases and no softening of the debt brake.” Currently, the three parties are continuing to debate coalition options in a small circle.
