(GermanPolicy.com) – SPD general secretary Lars Klingbeil, candidate for the co-chairmanship of the SPD, wants to ensure a “social democratic decade in Germany” by modernizing his party. “An election victory is not enough for me,” Klingbeil said. Previously, the SPD presidium and party executive had nominated the previous co-chair, Saskia Esken, but also Klingbeil, as a leadership duo. Klingbeil commented that the path to a younger, more female and more diverse SPD had to be be continued. Esken said Klingbeil was the architect for these matters.
