Scholz wants to initiate a general vaccination requirement

(GermanPolicy.com) – The designated Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) has announced that a legislative process for a general vaccination requirement will be initiated before the end of 2021. The Bundestag vote should take place without any group pressure. The compulsory vaccination should then be implemented “at the end of February or beginning of March.” The amount of fines against violations of the requirement could be determined within the framework of the parliamentary procedure. There should be compulsory vaccination for old people’s homes and care facilities at an earlier point in time. Scholz justified that one could “not watch heartlessly” as “the current situation” was very tense. A shortening of vaccination protection certificates from twelve to six months is also under discussion.

Habeck wants to see 2G binding

The Greens chairman Robert Habeck has meanwhile announced that 2G should, in a first and early step, become binding – with the exception of all facilities except supermarkets and pharmacies. The measures would amount to a lockdown for unvaccinated people. The Bundestag could decide upon this on Thursday, in view of increasing cases of infection and the more contagious Corona variant Omnikron.
