(GermanPolicy.com) – A longer operation of nuclear power plants should be examined with an open mind. This is what the energy policy spokesman for the CDU-CSU, Jung, has demanded. Continued operation of coal-fired power plants should also be examined.
Federal Economics Minister Habeck said he was aiming for energy efficiency. Germany should become less dependent on fossil fuels from Russia by diversifying national supplies. The SPD, Greens and FDP have already agreed, in the coalition committee, that coal-fired power plants will be kept on standby for a longer period of time. If possible, however, there should be a phase-out of coal by 2030. According to Habeck, regenerative energies must be expanded as soon as possible, without the need of government payments.
