Lindner (FDP) wants to compensate for cold progression

(GermanPolicy.com) – Federal Finance Minister Lindner (FDP) would like to noticeably limb the employees in 2023. The state should not “enrich itself from salary increases that only compensate for the rise in prices,” Lindner explained. In autumn, therefore, the cold progression should be solved in a fair manner. At that point, there will be “more clarity about the development,” Lindner added. The taxpayers’ association has asked Lindner to adjust the income tax for 2022 already. Cold progression is the technical term for a creeping tax increase that occurs when wage increases result in a higher burden on the income tax scale.
