(GermanPolicy.com) – Older people and people with previous illnesses are urgently requested to have a fourth vaccination against the Coronavirus. That statement was put forward by the chairman of the Standing Vaccination Commission, Mertens. In autumn, the risk of infection will again increase. People over 70 and people at particular risk of a severe course of the disease should use the time until autumn to increase their immune protection.

According to available data, a second booster vaccination could be very useful for the two groups of people mentioned. The general population does not need a booster yet, according to Mertens, who, however, named an exception: “In the event that a variant should appear that is significantly more pathogenic than Omicron and possibly even Delta, a fourth vaccination could be necessary for everyone in autumn will.”
