(GermanPolicy.com) – In the future, it should be medically ethical to stop treating one person and continue treating another patient with a better chance of survival when tight capacities are tight. A prerequisite is an exact examination, as a media report from a draft law of the Federal Ministry of Health reveals. Among other things, people with disabilities should not be disadvantaged when life-saving resources are scarce.
The Federal Constitutional Court asked the legislature to do this in December. The draft is currently being coordinated with the other departments, according to which no one may be disadvantaged for “reasons of race or ethnic origin, gender, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual identity.”
