Lemke speaks out against biofuels

(GermanPolicy.com) – Federal Environment Minister Lemke wants to change the law to limit the use of biofuel from cultivated plants for food and feed production. A proposal will be submitted soon. “We need our fields more urgently than ever for food production,” the minister explained. “Food belongs on the plate, not in the tank.” The chairman of the Environment Ministers’ Conference from Lower Saxony, Lies, and Federal Development Minister Schulze had made similar statements. Bio or agrofuels are controversial. However, oil from rapeseed, soybean or oil palm is sometimes added to other fuels during production.
