(de-news.net) – The SPD wants to hold initial exploratory talks with the CDU and the BSW at the end of the week in order to prepare for negotiations towards forming a coalition in Brandenburg. The CDU and the BSW were cautious about a possible participation in the forthcoming government.
In the election, the SPD became the strongest party with 30.9 percent of the vote. The AfD received 29.2 percent, the CDU achieved 12.1 percent, while the BSW received 13.5 percent in its first electoral run in the eastern German state. The Greens and the Left did not pass the 5 percent hurdle. Both are no longer represented in the state parliament. Voter turnout was 72.9 percent.
Seats in the state parliament: SPD 32, AfD 30, CDU 12, BSW 14. Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) will thus need the support of the BSW to achieve a stable majority without the participation of the AfD.
