(de-news.net) – The FDP has commenced its campaign for the Bundestag election with a call for an economic transformation. During the unveiling of campaign posters in Berlin, party leader Christian Lindner asserted that everything, including the economic situation, can change. The FDP positions itself as a catalyst for change, contrasting with the status quo represented by a potential Black-Green coalition or a new grand coalition. The FDP’s campaign posters feature Lindner, with slogans addressing issues such as migration control and job security.
FDP General Secretary Marco Buschmann announced that migration will be a central focus of the party’s campaign. He emphasized the importance of addressing migration, even as Germany strives to be an open and humanitarian country. Buschmann highlighted the necessity of respecting rules and boundaries, framing migration as a matter of the rule of law. He clarified that the issue is not about xenophobia or preventing individuals from other countries from seeking opportunities in Germany. Buschmann argued that nationalism is detrimental to the country, and like any other immigration nation, Germany must have clear and enforceable rules. This stance also applies to the situation in Syria. Buschmann asserted that German politics should not merely observe Syria passively but must employ astute diplomacy to restore peace, stability, and security there. This includes providing a perspective for the many individuals who fled to Germany, offering them an opportunity to return home.
The Bundestag election is expected to take place on February 23. Current polls indicate that the FDP’s re-entry into the Bundestag is uncertain. The party faces criticism over a controversial strategy paper discussing a potential coalition break.
