A new homeland protection division is now part of the German Army

(GermanPolicy.com) – A new homeland protection division is now subordinate to the land component of the German Bundeswehr. The division of the German Army initially comprises approximately 6,000 soldiers. Its tasks include protecting infrastructure, securing allied troop deployments, as well as providing assistance in the event of a disaster. A further homeland security regiment, a unit which usually has a strength of approximately 1,000 soldiers, is to be established on April 1.
