New government set to begin work on May 6

(de-news.net) – The incoming federal government, comprising CDU/CSU and SPD, is expected to commence its duties on May 6, as conveyed by the designated Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) in the newspaper Handelsblatt. He indicated that the coalition aims to implement several resolutions before the parliamentary summer recess. These include enhanced border protection and increased deportations. Merz also highlighted plans to repeal the Supply Chain Act and reduce bureaucracy.

Prior to his election as Chancellor, SPD members must approve the coalition agreement through a survey, while CDU members are required to endorse it at a small party convention. The CSU committees have already completed this process and approved a black-red coalition.
