Appointments of the CDU/CSU to the new federal government

(de-news.net) – The CDU has outlined appointments for the new federal government, receiving strong approval from its presidium. Thorsten Frei is set to lead the Federal Chancellery, while Karin Prien will oversee Education, Family, Seniors, Women, and Youth. Katherina Reiche is designated for Economy and Energy, Patrick Schnieder for Transport, and Nina Warken for Health. Johann Wadephul is expected to become Foreign Minister, and Karsten Wildberger will manage Digitalization and State Modernization.

At the state minister level, Christiane Schenderlein will focus on Sports and Volunteering, Wolfram Weimer on Cultural Affairs, and Michael Meister on Federal-State Cooperation. Serap Güler and Gunther Krichbaum are slated for roles in the Foreign Office. Gitta Connemann will serve as Parliamentary State Secretary and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) Commissioner, with additional state secretaries appointed across various ministries.

The CSU has also announced its cabinet members, including Alexander Dobrindt as Interior Minister, Dorothee Bär for Research, Technology, and Space, and Alois Rainer for Agriculture. Alexander Hoffmann will lead the CSU parliamentary group, while state ministerial roles will be filled by Florian Hahn, Daniela Ludwig, Ulrich Lange, Silke Launert, and Martina Englhardt-Kopf. Meanwhile, the SPD plans to finalize ministerial appointments following its ongoing membership consultation process.
