Interior Minister Dobrindt with a roadmap of stricter migration policies

(de-news.net) – Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) has outlined his government’s legislative agenda in the Bundestag, emphasizing stricter migration policies. Key measures include rejecting asylum seekers at the border, abolishing expedited naturalization, and suspending family reunification for subsidiary protection holders. Dobrindt also proposed expanding the list of safe countries of origin, resuming deportations to Afghanistan and Syria, and imposing permanent travel bans on security threats.

The minister justified the reforms by citing Germany’s migration burden and the need for policy realignment, initiated through stricter border controls. His proposals drew criticism: Green Party deputy Konstantin von Notz warned of diplomatic and economic consequences, while Left Party MP Clara Bünger vowed to defend asylum rights. AfD spokesperson Gottfried Curio accused the government of merely limiting illegal migration instead of eliminating it.

Dobrindt also announced expanded security measures, including extended IP address retention for crime investigations. He also advocated AI-driven data processing to enhance investigative efficiency.
