(de-news.net) – According to Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD), the German federal government plans to invest 35 billion euros by 2030 to strengthen space-related infrastructure and security. Pistorius presented proposals for satellite systems, ground stations, and launch capabilities during a space industry symposium organized by the Federation of German Industries in Berlin. He underlined that future battles would progressively spread into space in addition to terrestrial realms.
The German military’s Bundeswehr is already facing disruptive attacks on its systems. Pistorius cautioned that such meddling was dangerous for civil society and the larger economy in addition to military operations. According to the minister, satellite networks are a serious weakness in contemporary communities. He cautioned that any attempt to target satellites or disrupt GPS signals might have serious repercussions, possibly rendering entire countries inoperable.
