Foreign Minister Heiko Maas (SPD) has agreed with European counterparts from ten countries that they will work towards an opening the border. The borders could be opened for tourists before the beginning of summer. Maas expressed his hope that the Federal Foreign Office’s travel warning would be replaced by mere travel information, starting on June 15. But a quick return to “business as usual” would not happen, he stated. There will remain to be restrictions.
