Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) will not cut jobs in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. DB’s strategy envisages a doubling of passenger numbers by 2030 and 70 percent more rail freight traffic by DB Cargo, said the Federal Government’s Railway Commissioner, Enak Ferlemann. This is what everyone stood by. DB needed additional staff, to be hired, to implement the strategy.
In the previous week, there had been reports of railway company in need of billions of Euros in government aid due to the reduced number of passengers, as well as high costs. The Rail and Transport Union expressed concerns that workers might be laid off.
