Coronavirus causes only slight increase in death toll

After the flu wave and during the Corona epidemic at the end of April, very slightly more deaths were recorded in Germany than in previous years. This was announced by the Federal Statistical Office, using preliminary data from the local registry offices. Between April 20 and 26, three percent more people died in Germany than in the past four years. However, the number, which has been associated with the Coronavirus, is falling. For the period a week earlier, the deviation was 8 percent. In the 15th calendar week, the death rate was 13 percent above the four-year average.
