The Federal Government’s Integration Commissioner, Widmann-Mauz, has called on Federal Interior Minister Seehofer to allow a study of possible racism among the police. Dealing scientifically with the complex was the basis for being able to hold an objective discussion, she said. This would strengthen the back of those among the police officers who did important work. At the same time, it would allow to tackle existing problems.
Meanwhile, the Comission of the EU Council pointed to indications that racial profiling might constitute “a substantial problem in Germany.” According to commission head, Marouda, it is in the self-interest of the police to take part in such a study.
