The president of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Haldenwang, has explained why Indymedia is listed as a suspected case for anti-constitutional efforts in the current report on the protection of the constitution. The Leipzig Federal Administrative Court had confirmed the ban on the internet platform “linksunten indymedia” in 2019.

According to Haldenwang, activities of the platform have shifted. Among other things, questionable posts are now be published on a subdomain. The domestic secret service can now evaluate and store personal data on the basis of “sufficiently important factual evidence”.
