Increase in the savings allowance

(GermanPolicy.com) – The savings allowance will be increased. This results in annual tax savings of around 230 million Euros. As reported by the Federal Ministry of Finance, according to media reports, the Federal Government will lose 160 million Euros, the federal states 140 million Euros and the cities and municipalities 20 million Euros. About 4.7 million taxpayers with capital income will benefit.

The increase is stipulated in the coalition agreement. For singles, the amount will be 1,000 Euros instead of the previous 801 Euros, and for jointly assessed people 2,000 Euros instead of the previous 1,602 Euros. Shareholder protectors uttered criticism. The increase is “much too small”, a spokesman for the German Association for the Protection of Securities Ownership stressed.
