(de-news.net) – A reshuffling of leadership is marking a significant transition ahead of the anticipated formation of the new German government. Jens Spahn (CDU) has been elected as the new leader of the CDU/CSU faction in the Bundestag, securing over 90% of the votes. His election precedes the immiment Bundestag meeting where Friedrich Merz is expected to seek election as Chancellor. Spahn has been a member of the CDU presidium since 2014 and previously held the roles of deputy CDU chairman (2021–2022) and Minister of Health (2018–2021).
Further leadership appointments have been made within parliamentary factions.
